Specific Skills: The candidate must have a complete understanding of the systems engineering process from systems concept phase through systems test. Candidate must be adept at: Functional Analysis, Requirements Allocation & Traceability, Trade-off Studies, System Synthesis and System Evaluation (Integration & Verification Testing). Able to work through customer requirements to technical requirements to product solutions. Understanding of Functional and Allocated baselines in addition to Top-Level and Detailed Level Design approaches required. Candidate must have interest and demonstrated ability leading and developing people and processes. Working knowledge of any standard system engineering process including: MIL-STD-499, EIA-632, IEEE 1220 or ISO 15288. Strong verbal, written, and people development skills. Duties: Primary responsibilities will be to ensure the performance of their SE direct reports and that the defined systems engineering process is continuously improving and being followed by all engineers on their staff. The UM SE will also assist in the formulation of the systems engineering approaches for tasks assigned to their direct reports by the Technical Director on a program. The UM SE will be responsible for monitoring direct reports to ensure continuing adherence to systems engineering processes and approaches on a program. The UM SE shall ensure that their staff is productive and efficient in their work through technical reviews of their efforts. The UM SE will also be responsible for career counseling for each individual with performance evaluations throughout the year. The UM SE will prepare and administer performance reviews for those individuals on their staff. The focus of the SE UM is primarily leadership and management. The SE UM will be asked at times to perform direct contract work as time permits. Minimum requirements: U.S. Citizen. Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline, Masters desired. 10+ years Systems Engineering experience. Active Security Clearance required (DOD Secret minimum). Additional Job Notes: Development experience in any of the following areas would be considered highly beneficial: Information Assurance (Type 1, commercial IPSEC, hardware/software based encryption, key management, secure communications both wired and wireless), Naval Communications (interior or exterior), Tactical Recorders both spinning and solid state, SIGINT Systems, Unattended Ground Sensors.
